No one knows Robbie Avila’s game better than Josh Schertz, who recruited him to play a system and fit his skills into what became a well-oiled machine at Indiana State.
SLU was showing more resemblance to that offense a few weeks ago as Avila rounded into shape after two early-season ankle injuries slowed growth.
But his recent “regression” — a word used by Schertz — has become a red flag that the coaching staff will need to prioritize along with reducing overall turnovers before the Billikens resume play with two road games.
