The pitching matchup did not appear advantageous for SLU, which had to face Dayton’s Izzy Kemp on Friday in an elimination game at the Atlantic 10 tournament.

Kemp struck out 17 the previous day with a one-hitter for the tournament’s No. 1 seed. The Billikens countered with sophomore left-hander Isabel Royle, formidable in her own right but without the credentials of Kemp, a first-team, all-conference selection.
