Ben Cherico does what he can to avoid coaches in the SLU dugout when he’s pitching, and that was his approach after completing the eighth inning of his most recent start against Fordham.

The Billikens scored four times in the top of the ninth for all of their offense and led 4-0. Cherico knew there was some conversation between coach Miles Miller and pitching coach Mike Farrell about whether he should finish the game.

“Miles came up to me in the dugout and said, ‘How are you doing,’” Cherico said “I was like, ‘Why are you asking me that question? What are you concerned about? Because I’m not concerned about anything.’”
