There were some people hoping on Sunday that George Mason would beat VCU in the Atlantic 10 championship game with the belief that it could be a path to the conference getting two teams into the NCAA Tournament.

But there was nothing to indicate that VCU would have received an at-large. In the end, the Rams won and for the second time in three years, the conference will send one team.

When that happened in 2023, it was the first time since 2005 that the A-10 sent one team. Is the league in danger of this becoming the norm — fighting to get two teams in the field?
